These Queries were transcribed from those slips provided and posted on the Query Board at the 14th New England Regional Genealogical Conference for which the submitter provided permission to publish to the NERGC Web page. While every effort has been made to maintain the context of the Queries, in the process of transcribing submitters’ handwriting and editing the Queries to a uniform format, mix-ups may have managed to slip in. Your Query Editor regrets any errors in transcription that may have inadvertently occurred.
If you have information to share in response to Queries, please correspond directly with those who submitted them using the contact information they provided. NERGC cannot serve as an intermediary in either the research process or in providing additional contact information. When using the postal service, please enclose a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope if you need a response.
MAKING GOOD USE OF THE QUERIES
Keep in mind that the Query submitter often has more background information than is included in the Query. If you have data to supply, it may be helpful to seek more details from the querier before providing your research time and responses. Such interaction would likely be to your mutual research benefit.
One person’s BRICK WALL is another’s opportunity to build.
Those submitting these Queries come from a wide range of genealogical research experiences. An answer that may seem simple to you could be totally oblivious to the questioner, so please offer your suggestions. If you don’t have a specific answer to a posed dilemma, you might even help by merely pointing the questioner in the right direction on where or how to look for possible answers or clues.
ON BEING A GOOD ‘NEIGHBOR’
When perusing these Queries, please take notice of any towns named. If you live nearby, perhaps you’d be willing to visit your local Vital Records Department or State Library Unit, to look up an item for a submitter who lives away from the area. Your kind acts will be most appreciated.
The Queries Editor acknowledges with appreciation the genuine interest of those who submitted these entries and expresses the hope that each Query will garner responses in full measure.
