NEW  ENGLAND  CROSSROADS

The 8th New England Regional Genealogical Conference
Portland, Maine   31 March -- 3 April 2005

Special E-Bulletin!

3 March 2005

(This and Earlier Issues of the E-zine Are Available at www.nergc.org)

In This Issue:  More Hotel Rooms are Available!!

In response to record registrations for the Conference and the continuing demand for hotel rooms, we have just concluded an arrangement with the new Portland Harbor Hotel [which is rated as a 4 diamond hotel].  Check it out at: www.portlandharborhotel.com.

It is only 3 or 4 blocks from the Conference Hotel.  They have offered us a special rate of $129 per night (a substantial discount from their customary rate for this season) for a block of 25-50 rooms.  Be sure to make your reservation while there are still rooms available -- and to mention NERGC when making your reservation.  Call them at 888-798-9090 (toll free) or 207-775-9090.

Because of these special rates at the Portland Harbor Hotel, these reservations are non-canceable. "Reservations once confirmed are nonrefundable in the case of cancellation".

Also, because of its nearness to the Conference Hotel, guests can park their car at the Portland Harbor Hotel (for $15. a day) hotel and walk to the Conference.

Confusion about the Portland Fairfield Inn:
Some people have reported confusion about the location of the Fairfield Inn we recommended as an alternative to the Conference Hotel.

The Fairfield Inn at 340 Park Ave is NOT near the airport... it is downtown, very near the Conference Hotel (Holiday Inn by the Bay.)

But, since this Fairfield Inn has a shuttle that goes to and from the airport they refer to its address as: 340 Park Ave/Airport.

There is another Fairfield Inn that is close to the airport, but they do not have any shuttle and are just called the Fairfield Inn.

The woman at the Fairfield Inn that we spoke to admits that it is VERY, VERY confusing.   We're inclined to agree!

So we hope this clears up any confusion about which Fairfield Inn we meant.

Registration Information:
Please remember that, because of the Easter (March 27) holidays, registrations must be postmarked no later than March 24th.  Registrations postmarked after that will be treated as walk-ins.   Thank you for your cooperation.

Registration begins at 8:00 AM on Thursday, March 31.  Early registration is also available on Wednesday evening, March 30, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.   Please arrive and register early to avoid the crowds.

Also, because of large numbers already registered for Thursday (when we have less space than on Friday and Saturday), we will be unable to accept any walk-in
registrations for Thursday afternoon sessions.

However, Friday and Saturday, as well as Thursday evening events (Society Fair, Exhibit Hall opening, and Special Interest Groups) continue to be open to all.

The Conference brochure and registration form is available for download at the Conference website www.nergc.org.  Here you can see the full conference program and the many lectures and special events to choose from.

If anyone would like a brochure and registration form mailed to them, please contact Melinde Sanborn: melinde44@comcast.net.
