Special Interest Groups at NERGC 2009

Special Interest Groups, held on Thursday night of the conference, offer participants an opportunity to get together with others with similar interests and discuss ideas for genealogy research on a certain topic. If you are interested in hosting one of these informal groups, contact Leslie Huber.

Special Interest Groups will meet on Thursday, April 23, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm.

Scandinavian Research Kay Sheldon Do you have Swedish or other Scandinavians in your family? Come join the group as we discuss our common problems and maybe have some solutions.

Rhode Island Historic Cemetery Database Cherry Bamberg Learn how to unlock the information on 425,000 early gravestone inscriptions in Rhode Island. Computer demonstration, background, and opportunity to search for your own ancestors.
French-Canadian Research Patty Locke Come discuss French Canadian genealogy. We will discuss available resources and go over some tips to help you find your ancestors. We will also discuss French Canadian culture and history.  Enjoy some French Canadian music during our informal discussion period. Some light refreshments will be served.

Scotch-Irish Research Colin Brooks Can't find your Irish in Ireland or your Scottish in Scotland? The Scotch-Irish group will share ideas on researching these unique people. 10 miles from the 1st town established by Scotch-Irish to America in 1718 (Londonderry, NH), our group will focus on their migration into America in the 1800s.
